Extensions for Joomla! 5.x • Re: Best way to host videos securely using Joomla?

Put the videos on a video hosting platform - You Tube or Vimeo or something (?) I'm sure they have lock-down options.

But for hosted files on the same web hosting as the website, you should also be able to link to a file, and lock that down the same way as any other link, with the built in ACL tools of Joomla, or put them in a Media Gallery component (Phoca Gallery for example, which I think could accommodate video as well as photos) - or anything similar.

There is also Conditional Content (Regular Labs): https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... l-content/

Phoca Gallery: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/phoca-gallery/ (works with You Tube hosted video)

I believe Phoca (as one example) can be configured to access a folder "outside" (as in above the public-accessible folder structure) of the public_html folder of your hosting, so videos can be accessed through the component, but not via direct links to the files.

You could also put in place (on your hosting) the hot-link protection so outsiders can't direct-link to your video files on a another website. (For reference: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotlinking)
